Know When Someone Accesses Your Accounts

Its all over the news.. TV... Internet.. Everywhere.   Identity Theft is a multi-billion dollar issue for us hard working folk with excellent credit..    Identity theives have nothing to loose. Their credit is already in the dumps, and they cannot get loans for a house, or new car, or even a good job!   And they will stop at nothing to ruin YOUR credit and take your identity..  By the time you find out, it is TOO LATE, and will take months or even YEARS to get it straight.. 

So, what can you do??   Its easy.. Sign up for a credit / identity monitoring service.   I use Freescore.com because it monitors all three credit bureaus... Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.   Here is how it works...

1. First thing you do is check your credit reports for ALL three Credit Bureaus!!   You will be surprised as to what you will find. Most of the time, there are blatant errors that can be, and need to be fixed in order to raise your credit rating.. Your rating is CRUCIAL in getting a mortgage, loan, job, etc..  Especialy in this economy, where banks hesitate on lending to good credit rating customers!  

2. Secondly, create your credit alerts.  What this does is ALERT YOU, via email, as soon as someone has made a query to one of the credit bureau about you.. For example, if someone tries to apply to a new VISA card, in your name, you will know about it immeditely.. By the time the thieves get their card, you will already have cancelled it!!!   VERY VERY IMPORTANT.. Otherwise, they can get a credit card IN YOUR NAME, and use it for months and rack up the bills and NEVER PAY.. And guess whos credit suffers??  YOURS!!  

Where can you go to get this service?  Many places, but some are Freescore.com, Equifax.com and Experian.com.. Also go to FreeCreditReport.com  (perhaps you have seen their commercials)

Dont delay!   And BTW, it works great!  I applied for a new Amex card, and within a few days, I recieved an alert!!  In this case, it was legit, since I was the one that applied, but it is very comforting to know that it works, and someone is looking out for me, 24/7.
